The Institute's 2006 Mission Statement

During the next five years The Nautical Institute, through its Council and international membership will continue to promote safer and more efficient shipping practices worldwide both at sea and ashore through:

- Stronger promotion of Continuous Professional Development

- Increased support for effective management practices ; and

- Pro-active development of the Institute's international membership and services

So as to be:

An effective and representative voice of the professional mariner to industry bodies, governments and the general public.

The Council of The Nautical Institute published its Strategic Plan in May 2006.
